Piano Care?
I have a Yamaha upright piano. The wood is absolutely beautiful, however it has been uncared for, for quite some time. I just now got it back and it is very dusty. We are not sure what to use~ we are not sure if using furniture oil or wax is a better idea or which one is better. It is really pretty dusty and I want to make it clean and shiny again.
It is a piece of furniture as well as a musical instrument. I would use a solution of Murphy’s Oil soap and warm water and just dampen a sponge with it to clean it.
To keep it (and all your wood furniture) looking good:
1. Mix 2 parts vegetable oil or olive oil and 1 part lemon juice in a medium-sized bowl.
2. Dip a clean, dry, lint-free cloth into the mixture and rub into the wood. Always rub wood in the direction of the grain.
3. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to get into tight places or to get at scrollwork or other intricate design work.
4. Rub with a new, clean cloth until wood shines.
