Applying for an Art Major
At the risk of saying the obvious, have you looked at the UC admissions website? There is a chart–hard to decipher but absolutely pertinent–that explains what you need in terms of grades and test scores to be eligible. Mentioning the competitive school you went to will be critical, as will your community service and your family challenges. Given your income level, be sure to apply for financial aid for the March deadline–it’s the FAFSA, and I think it’s due March 2. Since your 3.24 will be weighed against people’s 4.0 from less competitive schools, you should make a point of appealing if you don’t get in.
