Violin String
Is there something wrong with my violin A string?
I’ve just changed my A string to a D’addario Pro Arte one, and it looks thicker than usual. It can hardly fit into those notches on my bridge and on the nut. My friend, who plays the violin says that it looked like a viola string, but it says violin strings on the package. I bought the whole set of 4 strings by the way. It sounds quite okay to me though my friend says that it sounds lower. Help? Should I change them?
Could just be the gauge of the string. They come in different gauges to promote a brighter or darker sound. If you like it, leave it. If you don’t, get another one. But make sure you change it because YOU don;t like it, not because your friend’s opinion has swayed you.
