Viola Strings
what are some good quality viola strings?
hey i need some new strings for my viola and i didnt know what some of the best quality strings were. please tell me what you think =)
It depends on what kind of sound you would like
A warm powerful sound goes with the Evah Pirazzi strings. These are pretty durable strings, and they play very well. They also break in nicely. I am using these right now. (These are 88 dollars when purchasing online)
If you want a brighter sound, a Larsom A string, and a Pirastro Tonica D, G, and C strings. I recommend getting the Tungsten/SIlver C string. (These could be about 88 dollars for all 4. I’m not sure about the price.)
You can get a very good sound out of the Pirastro Eudoxa, but i do not recommend this, unless you only need the strings for a short amount of time. The reason for this, is that the Eudoxa strings are gut strings. They are also very pricey. (110 dollars for a set.)
When you buy the strings you choose, I would recommend using either www.sharmusic.com or www.wwbw.com
You can get strings cheaper from these sites, and it only takes about 3-4 business days for them to arrive.
