Are tenor saxophone and flute fingerings mostly the same?
I have heard that sax fingerings are practically the same as flute fingerings, but other people have said they aren’t. Who should I believe? And don’t answer this unless you know a fair bit about sax and flute, please! Oh yeah and I play flute but I’m gonna play tenor sax as well so it will be easier if its the same (I hope it is).
No, they are not the same. They have similarities like every instrument. The first problem you are going to run into is that the keys are set up different on a sax than on a flute. The Second problem is that the flute is in the key of c and the tenor sax is in Bb. If you are thinking of other saxes Soprano is also in Bb and alto and Baritone saxes are in Eb.
