Is a piano a string instrument?
Also is there any other string instruments besides violin, viola, double bass, cello and guitar?
As the Piano can be, and has been, played by fingers plucking its strings, it is very much a stringed instrument in a practical way. When it is played in this manner, further, it would be inaccurate to term it a ‘Percussion’ Instrument.
It is clearly a ‘Percussion instrument’ only when the hammers are made to strike the strings, the hammers being operated by the fingers playing upon the instrument’s keyboard.
As this method of obtaining sound from the instrument is the more usual, the Piano is generally referred to as a ‘Percussion’ instrument.
To be pedantic, it is a ‘Stringed Percussion Instrument’, I guess.
You are every bit as capable as I of looking up [any encyclopedia, e.g.] for a list of other stringed instruments.
There may well be quite a lot of them.
