GUITAR – what is the difference between a spruce top and a cedar top on a guitar?
trying to decide between a yamaha cg111s or cg111c (spruce or cedar) — never owned a classical guitar before.
Spruce and cedar will sound different on acoustic instruments. Without being able to play the guitars, I’d go with spruce, since that is generally the better choice. However, it also depends on grade. So, in some cases, the cedar might sound nicer.
Buy both from musiciansfriend.com and return the one you don’t want.
The telecaster vs. strat analogy is not really applicable here since those are solid body electric guitars.
