What is the normal size of a Acoustic Guitar?
My dad got me a fender acoustic guitar… and he said it was the normal full size of a guitar. I was disappointed i think it is too big. What is the regular size?
You’ve actually asked two questions.
A regular full size guitar has a scale length of 24 1/2″ to 25 1/2″. Scale length is defined as the length of the strings from the nut to the saddle, that is, the length of the part of the string that vibrates. By that measure your guitar is almost certainly a full size guitar.
Within full size guitars there are a variety of body shapes, some much larger than others. The most popular shape by far – unfortunately – is the dreadnought, which I believe is the shape of all Fender acoustic guitars. This is just about the largest body shape of any acoustic guitar and as you already discovered is very uncomfortable for many people to play, especially for girls and others of smaller stature. There are other body shapes that are still full size but much more comfortable; these are called grand concert and auditorium sizes. This is what you should be playing.
If possible, return your guitar to the store in exchange for something more comfortable for you to play. Good luck.
