can anybody tell me about this clarinet ? age? thanks
The most reliable Instrument Serial Number listing on the Internet indicates that this instrument would date from the mid-1980’s. Bundy was Selmer’s student line brand name, and their clarinets were highly popular.
However, their plastic bodies were molded rather than machined, meaning that the bore was cylindrical, which is not the proper shape for a clarine bore. Thus, the tone was not what a clarinet tone should be, nor wat the intonation as good as it should have been.
If you’re considering purchasing this instrument, and you’re looking for a plastic, student-quality instrument, I’d recommend a Vito clarinet from LeBlanc instead.
If you’re trying to sell it, first take it to a reputable woodwind repair shop and have it put into playing condition. (It will probably need at least some pads, and will need adjusting. It may need a complete re-pad.) Once it’s in playing condition, you should be able to sell it for something in the $200-$400 range, depending on the condition of the instrument and case. You might look for similar instruments on eBay to see what they’re selling for.
