Sax Reed
What is the best size reed for me to use? Alto Sax?
I am about to begin learning to play the Alto Sax. What size reed do you suggest for me to use to start out with. I also play oboe, so I know a little about reeds, even though i know oboe is a double reed. thanks!
I switched from flute to bass clarinet and started out on a 3 and did just fine. I also play tenor sax and use the same reeds I use for bass clarinet (Lucky me they are both the same size so I can use the exact same reeds.) A 3 would be good for you I would think since you already play oboe. It will also give you more range so you can be a better player.
