Is there much difference between the resonator guitar and a classical guitar?
I am going to make a resonator guitar.How similar to the classical guitar is it?I can only find books about making acoustic and classical guitars.Are there any books about making resonator guitars?

The only similarities between a classical guitar and a resonator guitar (called a dobro) are strings and a fretboard. Playing style, body style, and nearly everything else is out the window.
Classical and acoustic guitars rely on the soundboard (front) to vibrate and push air in and out of the sound-hole to create sound. These guitars are meant to be plucked/strummed often and are played with fingers on the fret board. These guitars need a relatively large amount of volume: the sustain suffers.
Resonator guitars, however, are completely different. The strings anchor to a large metal plate. Sustain is the main objective as dobros are usually played with a slide and aren’t fretted. The metal plate helps keep the string vibrating as the slide is moved up and down. The plate also adds a small amount of reverb.
Unless you have amazing metal working skills, and an awesome shop, I wouldn’t make a dobro. To be completely honest, I wouldn’t make an acoustic either – you have to have many, many, MANY specialized machines for the job. -steam boxes, custom jigs, custom clamps, humidity and temperature controlled curing rooms, and the list goes on……
