Inch Viola
Starting from seeds, in-doors…project with my younger siblings. Help!?!?
I’m living in the lovely north east (connecticut to be exact). I am 19 and LOVE spending time with my little brothers and sister(ages 5,6 and 7)..
About 2 weeks ago i purchased some pots, we painted them – i put a clear glaze over it (to water proof the paint)..and we planted seeds. 2 pots have morning glories, 1 has violas, 1 has pansys, 1 has cat nip, and 1 has basil. The pots with morning glories, and the pot with basil are showing some stems..almost 1 inch stems in the morning glories! The violas and the pansys however are showing NOTHING.
I have them in our sun room( its a room with all windows, where we always keep/grow plants)..i leave them in there during the day when its warm in there – and becuase it gets cool in there at night, i take them out of that room during the night. I keep the soil moist.
Any other suggestions? —- because ONE of my brothers has growth in his plants, the other 2 kids seem almost devistated that they have no growth.
I also started violas and pansies from seed indoors this year. It took at least 2-3 weeks for the seeds to germinate.
If they don’t germinate after a few more days, I would sow some more of the same seeds in the pots.
Also, make sure the temp. is remaining above 60, (65 would be preferable) in whatever location they are in. If the temps drop at night (which they might near a window) I would cover the pots with a garbage sack after sunlight and after you turn off any other additional lighting. Take the garbage bag off in the a.m. when the sun rises again. This keeps the soil moist.
