What is the black band that goes around the neck of a guitar?
I have been playing the guitar for about 4 years now and I have noticed that a lot of famous musicians use this black band that goes around the neck of the guitar, and I just wanted to know from any guitar players out there, what is it exactly and what does it do?
Are you refering to a capo?
It presses down all the strings onto one fret, so raises the pitch of all strings by the same amount. It’s to play songs in different pitches/keys.
You can get bands or metal and rubber ones that clip on – they work slightly better, but I’ve never had a problem with my little black fabric and plastic one!
