What do I need to do/buy to have my 16×14 Floor Tom mounted onto my Ride Cymbal Stand?
I have the Gretsch Catalina Club Mod Drum Set w/ Dixon Hardware. Also Im not like rich so try and keep the items wallet friendly. Thanks!
I assume that the tom is really a mounted tom and not a floor tom. That is, it does not have legs and instead has a mount similar to to smaller toms.
Gretsch has a mount for this, but it costs about 50 bucks (see the first link below).
You can also do this with some type of multi-clamp and L-Rod for Toms.
For example, Tama’s MC66 FastClamp ($20) along with the Tama LLT L-Rod ($9).
The MC66 will clamp right to the Ride Stand and the LLT connects to that, holding the tom in place.
I’ve put links below so that you can see what the parts look like.
The MC66 is a high-end part and you may be able to find something similar, but cheaper.
Make sure that the L-Rod you use fits the mount on your Tom.
Also, make sure that you widen the legs of the ride stand out and the tom is mounted over top one of the legs. This will make the setup more stable.
