Flute Intermediate
Cibailis flutes? OR Best flute for intermediate player?
I played the flute for several years (5th-12th) and then the piccolo in the marching band for 2 years. I haven’t played my flute in years and it needs some serious help. I want to keep it, but buy a new one to start playing again. Does anyone know Cibailis? I am checking out a few of their flutes on Ebay. Does anyone have a recommendation for a flute model for an intermediate player to purchase on the lower end of the price scale ($200-$300)? I would like something that plays well but not a lot of money because I won’t play it enough. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Don’t do it! I was a band director for 20 years and currently teach lessons at a music store. The repairman there tells me that the horns, like the one your talking about, are made from a much softer metal. This is how they can sell them so cheap. The problem is the metal bends easy making repairs necessary. Most repairmen won’t touch them because they know that their repair is only making the metal weaker and it quickly breaks. The instrument quickly gets to the point of not being able to repair it or play it.
I suggest looking for a used major instrument name like Gemienhardt, Armstrong, Pearl, Yamaha, ect. Have a repairman look at it before purchase if you question the quality or name brand. You can usually find instruments advertised in your local paper, music store or ask the school band directors.
