China Cymbal

About Wuhan China Cymbal?
I just bout a ‘12 Wuhan china cymbal on ebay and i want to ask a few questions? First basically i just bought the cymbal because i saw it was the brand Neil Peart used and thought it was good, are Wuhan china cymbals good? Second i don’t have and dont want to blow some money on a new cymbal stand, plus i dont think i have enough space(my drumset takes up most of the space in my bedroom). Would it be ok if i put it on top of the ride cymbal (i put one those felt things between them)? And last this isnt about the cymbal but i have a Tama Imperial Star drumset and just wanted to know if its a good drumset. Thanks!
Wuhan China cymbals are excellent. I bought an 18 inch cymbal about 1 1/2 years ago and it sounds great. To me they have the perfect trashy sound, without sustaining too long, not too sharp sounding… you know what I’m talking about. I also have a 12 inch like you do on my left side above my highest tom which comes in handy for different off-beats, accents with my left hand while playing my ride with my ride, etc. It would be okay to stack it on top of another cymbal, but personally I use those clamp on arm cymbal stands that clamp onto another stand. I guess the stacker would have to high enough above the ride so it wouldn’t get in the way of you playing the bell and stuff.
Some people give Wuhan a bad name because they say they break too easy. Although I do agree that they are made out of a cheaper metal than most cymbals (because they are), I believe that the reason that those people say they break easy is because they truly do not know how to play a cymbal. The majority of people who are just starting out playing drums, as well as some people who have been playing for years for some reason feel that they need to bash the drums and cymbals as hard as they can. It’s not good on the equipment, it doesn’t make the drums and cymbals sound any better, and it certainly does not make the drummer look any cooler.
So yes, Wuhan is the best sounding China cymbal in my opinion.
And to answer your actual question, I could not tell you if your drum set is a good drum set. I do know that Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater uses Tama and he was majorly influenced by Neil Peart. Neil Peart also used Tama for years and years until the early to mid-nineties, I believe.
