Bundy Resonite

ABS hard plastic or resonite better for a clarinet?
My middle school clarinet was stolen out of our garage, and since it is unlikely to be returned I am looking to replace it. My previous clarinet was a Bundy, and I believe it was resonite, but I am not sure. Target has a snazzy purple model in ABS hard plastic, but there are better deals to be had on Ebay. I don’t have a lot of $$ to spend, as I have a 2 year old and a husband, but I have also never had such a strong desire to play.
I think it would be unwise to make a purchase before understanding the materials, and the internet is not giving me clear answers, so which clarinet do you think would be better, or is there any difference between ABS hard plastic and resonite? Thanks
does anyone have an opinion on the matter?
just adding:
It was written: “Selmer, LeBlanc, and even Yamaha would be some other brands to look for- but stay away from their subdivisions.”
Noblet Paris is a subdivision of LeBlanc, Selmer used to produce the Omega and Signet lines as well as the Bundy. These sub-brands are not exactly a bad choice for a hobbyist. Note too – LeBlanc itself is now a subdivision of Conn-Selmer (who seems to have bought just about everyone) and Conn-Selmer is owned by Steinway (the piano people).
Especially consider the Noblet Paris. That’s a fine instrument available on the used market at a killer price compared to some others for equal quality.
Also, if you’re careful and ask questions, you can get some really good deals on eBay. You just have to know what you’re looking at and be prepared to have a service call done when you get it.
ABS vs Resonite — no real difference there. They’re both a polymer that most of us just call “plastic”. Resonite is a trademark of Selmer. Resotone is the trademark of LeBlanc. Some use the word Ebonite. ABS and Resonite (Polycarbonate) are both suitable materials from which to make musical instruments.
