How to make a bass drum more responsive?
I am using a pearl export series, I have Evans eq2’s on the bass drum, and an iron cobra kick pedal. Ive been having problems with response on this kick drum and I dont know if its the heads, the kick, the tuning or what. any help on how to make a bass drum more responsive would be appreciated.
Well it depends on what you mean by responsive, first you could try stuffing a pillow or a piece of foam inside of the bass drum. If you want a more “BOOM” kind of sound, keep the front head loose and the back head (the one you hit) medium tight; if what you want is a more “thump” kind of sound then tighten the front head some more until you get to the desired sound.
