Age on this banjo tailpiece? 1987 or 1887?
I found this banjo on ebay. I’m bidding on it and trying to win it. I see a date on the head from 1925, but on the tailpiece it reads “Jan 4. 87″ and I’m wondering if anyone can tell if it’s from 1887 or 1987. See photo below:

That is the Patent Date not the the date of MFG
The Pat is prob 1887 that peice is older than 21 yrs
From what else I could see i would say the 40s If a Martin its worth a bit
