Is Winnipeg a good place for a young backpacker to go?
Im a 24 yr old guy from Australia, who loves Canada and is planning to travel there soon, Ive heard a bit about Winnipeg, I was wondering, whats it like? Is it a place where young people can go?
Is it best to visit Canada in the summer or the winter? Cheers guys.
I have lived in Winnipeg all my life, and although I love it here, it’s definitely not a place for tourism. It is a small, laid back city, with generally friendly people, however, downtown Winnipeg is not much to see. It is however, very diverse, with many different cultures. I complain a lot that there isn’t much to do here, but really, Winnipeg does offer a lot if you look for it. Also, just outside the city, we have a lots of lakes, and a few nice beaches. Of course, nothing compared to Australia I’m sure, but it is still beautiful at the lake.
I’d definitely say visit Canada in the summer, seeing as you are from Australia. Most of Canada is very cold in the winter. Winnipeg is extremely cold in the winter. I think my body is kind of used to it at this point, but you would freeze :p
If you travel across Canada, I hope you have a lot of fun. Canada is a beautiful country, with a lot of wonderful people.
